Corruption corruption everywhere...

No number of rules and regualtions can decrease or deter corruption or enforce accountability. Brilliant human mind always

has been, still is and always will find more loopholes in them than in a Swiss cheese even in the most perfectly crafted legislations.

Rather than looking outward we need to focus on the inside within ourselves from where the tempting idea of corruption stems.

Mere rules and laws dont curb corruption. We dont see any follow-up of any case of corruption even after in the public glare

and it is a historically known fact that no politician has ever been actually punished or penalised for any corrupt practice

ever in the history of independent India when it is the 'fact of the millennium' that corruption and politics not only go

hand in hand, saying so would indicate on the naievity of oneself, but they are synonymous or two sides of the same hand.

Accounta...-what??!

India truly is a land of paradoxes. Nowhere in the world will you come across a nation where immensely rich and powerful coexist with those practically starving and destitute. A congregation of religions. It, therefore, becomes all the more imperative for the Government to be a fair and just 'parent' as all her kids are not brilliant first-rankers. Some are phenomenally well-endowed while others are struggling just to make ends meet and are lucky if they see another sun rise on the horizon.

The Civil Servants or public administrators are, in a true sense, protectors of the Constitution and upholders of the tradition. Stifling or smothering them with another deluge of rules and regulations in the form of accountability will ensure delay of all the much-needed development projects. Public accountability, as is mostly claimed, may not always be that public. Innocent public may be used by political entities for their parochial interests in making ends meet. Innumerable such instances of 'motivating' public opinion in the favour of unscrupulous politicians are seen. Moreover, with the regionalization of politics and politicisation of regions, the politics in the country have sunk to a historic low and in such a case Civil Servants may not be expected to 'blindly agree and abide' by the 'alleged' political masters. Political will or directive is an obligation of Civil Society but its larger obligation is "To speak truth to power" power being the chosen will of the people in the form of their elected representatives. To see if, even by political will, there is marginalization or injustice meted out to any particular entity of this nation, for it is this entity that needs a 'voice' the most. Accountability must be self-imposed . If externally done to an unprecedented extent it may imbalance the forces of development and altogether kill the drive and motivation of the Civil Society who have to face more opposition for development.
